1,800 T youths ready for IT, digital marketing jobs

The SOS Children’s Villages of India has trained hundreds of men and women in various fields such as digital marketing, computer applications, engineering, nursing, and nutrition. Through its skilling program, the childcare NGO has collaborated with the government to facilitate employability for over 1,820 young people in the country, including 497 women in Hyderabad.

To support the youth, the organization has established vocational training centers in different cities across India. These centers help young individuals upgrade their skills and also provide financial support, re-skilling, and upskilling opportunities. Deepthi, a beneficiary of the program, shared her story, stating that after losing her father at a young age, she was unable to pursue higher education. However, after enrolling in the ITES – BPO course through the SOS Children’s Villages of India, she is now employed as a customer service executive and can support her family and her sister’s education.

During the pandemic, the NGO offered upskilling opportunities in courses such as Hotel Management, Beauty Assistant, Networking Administration, Supply Chain Management, Fashion Designing, and Apparel Construction. This was done to empower individuals, especially youth and caregivers, during a challenging time. Sumanta Kar, Secretary General of the SOS Children’s Villages of India, emphasized the importance of equipping and empowering individuals during the pandemic.
